How to get my campaign verified so I can send texts?
Quick Guide for Campaign Text Message Registration
Verifying your campaign
Texting potential voters is one of the most effective ways to engage your community and to advance your campaign.
When you, a candidate, send texts to potential voters, this is called peer-to-peer texting. When you start doing this at scale, certain regulations to prevent spam start to apply.
You don’t want your mobile carrier to flag your number as being a spam account and blocking you from reaching supporters. After getting an EIN, and a compliant website, you'll need to confirm you are running and are who you say you are.
This guide will walk you through the final step of navigating your Submission and inputting your PIN
Who is reviewing my registration form?
Before you are able to send texts about your campaign, regulations and policies require that your candidacy be verified.
This is done through a third party called Campaign Verify (CV). They verify your campaign committee/organization and have specific requirements to prove you are running.
The process is simple but has some exact requirements that can make it complicated if you are not careful.
Here’s an overview of the process:
- You provide Campaign Verify with your election filing link proving your registration
- Campaign Verify confirms you are who you say you are and that your registration form matches your official filing
- Campaign Verify sends you a pin to your provided address as part of this verification process
- You enter your pin into your settings for your GoodParty.org profile
- Success! You can now send text messages to potential voters.
What is my election filing link?
Your election filing link is the URL that points to your election filing documentation—proving you are running. This URL must be affiliated with a government agency, such as a board of elections.
Your election filing documentation is typically a campaign filing page, a declaration of candidacy, or a list of candidates who are running for office in your community.
The filing documentation must include the contact information that you submitted to your board of elections, including: your name, mailing address, email or phone number.
The URL must be to the actual government page showing your contact information. You cannot simply include a scan of your signed PDF or a screenshot.
You must link to the most specific page you can find. Ex. example.gov/filing/2026-candidates not simply example.gov.
Here is an example of a valid election filing link versus a generic, invalid link. The former will be accepted while the latter will be rejected, as it does not directly provide the verifying agency access to the required information to determine the legitimacy of a candidacy.
In summary, your election filing link is a URL to your local election filing showing your contact information. This is used to verify your candidacy.
How to find my election filing link?
You can usually find the required election filing link URL by searching for your local Supervisor of Elections Office. Sometimes this may be your town, city, or county election authority. Search for the list of candidates running for office (including yourself).
For example, you might search: “Palm Bay, Florida Supervisor of Elections Candidate List”
If you are running a federal campaign, the URL must be from fec.gov and point to your specific filing (e.g. https://fec.gov/data/committee/C00123456 ).
Once you have your filing link, paste it into your profile settings under Texting Compliance > Submit your Registration.
What if I can’t find a link that proves my candidacy?
If evidence of your candidacy has not been posted yet—or if your board of elections does not publish filing information at all— you can provide a link that directs Campaign Verify to the contact page of your election authority, such as your county clerk or elections administrator. Campaign Verify may reach out directly and inquire about your candidacy. If your election authority confirms your candidacy, your registration can still move forward.
This might slow your verification down slightly. The contact page to your election authority should contain a phone number for Campaign Verify to call.
What if I’m not a filled candidate yet?
Unfortunately, we cannot help you register for sending texts if there is no evidence of your candidacy available. This is due to regulations that require candidates to be verified by a third party before being able to send text messages.
You will have to wait until you're officially filed as a candidate in order to submit your registration form.
What is my filing address?
Your filing address should be the address reflected on your official candidate filing, and should also be an address you’re able to receive a PIN at, later in the process.
This can be your mailing address, PO box, email address, etc., it just MUST match what you used when you initially filed to become a candidate.
Campaign Verify will verify your candidacy by matching this address to the address on your official filing. It is very important to ensure you use the same address listed in your filing or your registration will be delayed.
What should I use for my filing email?
Your filing email should match the email you used when submitting your candidacy to your local election office. This will likely be the email your PIN is sent to once you are verified by Campaign Verify.
Where does the PIN come from? When will I receive it?
You will receive a PIN from a company called Campaign Verify. This PIN can be delivered in 3 different ways: your filing email, your filing phone number, or your filing address. The method that Campaign Verify uses to deliver a PIN is determined by their ability to verify the contact information that was provided to them through your filing documentation. In the event that they are unable to either a phone number or email associated with your campaign, they will revert to mailing a PIN via postal service.
To expedite the delivery of your PIN—either by phone or email— the phone number or email address must match the contact information on your filing documentation. For example: if you used a personal email address when you filed your campaign paperwork and have since created a campaign email address, you must use your personal email address when submitting your registration info to Campaign Verify.
-
If email address or cell phone number: PIN will be emailed or texted within one business day
-
If landline: CV will call with PIN within one business day
-
If postal address: PIN will be sent by USPS within 5-10 business days
I received my PIN. What do I do with it?
Congratulations!
This step is the last and easiest. Head over to https://goodparty.org/profile/texting-compliance/submit-pin and paste your PIN there.
Once you do this, Campaign Verify submits your registration and waits for approval from The Campaign Registry. You will need to wait 1-3 business days to receive an email confirming that you’re officially registered.
