Buying a Domain for Your Campaign Website

Your campaign website can have its own domain name (like YourNameForCity.org). This makes your site look more professional and credible to voters. Here’s how to set it up:

Where to Add a Domain

There are two ways to add your domain to your GoodParty.org website builder:

  1. After creating your website – On the “Success” screen, you’ll see a banner that lets you add a domain.
  2. From your website page – Click Done after finishing setup, and go back to your main website page. From there, you’ll see an Add Domain option.

Choosing Your Domain

  • Your domain should match your campaign name or custom link.
  • You must choose an ending: .com, .org, or .co.
  • Search for your preferred domain.
    • Example: justinforcouncil.org
  • If your first choice isn’t available, you’ll see suggested options.

💡 Tip: For campaigns, .org often looks more official than .com or .co.

Purchasing Your Domain

  1. Select your domain (ex: justinforcouncil.org).
  2. Click Checkout and complete your purchase.
  3. Once purchased, your domain will be linked to your campaign website.

Waiting for Setup

  • After purchase, it may take up to 30 minutes for your new domain to fully connect.
  • This delay is normal — it’s due to domain name server updates happening in the background.

Confirming Your Domain

  • Return to your Website Metrics page.
  • Look for your updated domain (ex: justinforcouncil.org).
  • Click the link to visit your live site.

Why This Matters

  • A custom domain makes your campaign look more credible to voters.
  • It’s also required if you plan to send compliant political text messages later on.
